The Munro Muser

I have been thinking about starting a walking blog for some time, so laid up with an almighty cold I have jumped into the outdoor blogosphere. I am not a complete blog virgin as I have a local political related blog that concentrates on things that effect our local community.

So what motivated me to start a hillwalking blog?

Two reasons:

1. To record my attempts at becoming a munro “compleatist”. When this blog was started I was on Munro Number 14 so a long way to go. The blog will be a useful way of recording the highs and lows of a past time that many (no all) non hillwalkers will consider psychologically dubious.

2. To highlight the wonderful place where I live. The village of Kinlochleven is hidden away at the head of Loch Leven in Lochaber. The last stop on the West Highland Way before Fort William and surrounded by munros and corbetts, with Glencoe and Glen Nevis only a short drive away this area offers the best hillwaking in the country. Yet how many people realise this? Hopefully this blog will provide a small opening on the web to promote this great place.

The blog won’t just be about hillwaking but the great countryside around us in United Kingdom, obviously concentrating on my own special part of the country – Lochaber!
